Description |
An existing fixed jetty marina to be replaced by a floating marina. The site is exposed to waves from the south to the west and the existing marina was rapidly deteriorating under the conditions at the site. The seabed material is very soft marina sediments overlying rock.
The project involved dredging and the removal and replanting of seagrass.
|
| Involvement: |
Marina layout drawings, cost estimates and tender documents for the new marina. This was followed by the management and technical input to an Environmental Impact Statement.
Following the construction approval being granted and a tender being awarded, quality audits and construction supervision were undertaken.

| Of
Special Note: |
The site is exposed to quite large waves from the south. It was decided that a floating attenuator would be able to withstand the wave climate and to provide adequate attenuation. The existing timber fixed structure was unable to provide adequate attenuation. The new attenuator is one of the heaviest ever used in Australia and is curved in plan. Its performance has surpassed the predicted behaviour. |
